2004 News & Progress.

December 2nd 2001.
[12/02/04] - Dec 2nd 2004 marks 3 years since I've driven my GT6. Boy this has been a long journey. Full of up and downs along the way. I'm not sure when I'll see the end. Optimism says I will be driving her again in possibly 2006, but I would say 2007 is more realistic with regard to the sheer cost of the project. "December 2001 02, 4 hours of work and the GT6 is stored for the winter."

New Tool In The Garage.
[11/30/04] - Well I finally got a real DA Sander. 6 inch unit air powered. The thing is heavy, should do a nice job. Click to view my photos.

A Better Engine Stand.
[11/13/04] - Last night Mike and I went to Princess Auto, I bought a 1250LBS Engine Stand. On sale for $79.99 regularly $99.99. I put it together this morning, a much better solution then what I was working with before. I took apart the smaller stand, cleaned it up and returned it to Princess Auto this morning. No issues. So in all I'm pleased. Click to view my photos. Click here to read the details.

Engine On The Stand.
[11/11/04] - Ok, I think I will need to buy a bigger stand, this one is rated for 750lbs, but I don't trust it. A Spit friend is interested in buying it off me for when I get myself a much larger one later this week. At any rate Mike and I removed the transmission, clutch and fly wheel. This was all new to me so it was interesting. Click to view my photos. Click here to read the details.

Getting Ready For Winter.
[10/11/04] - We'll the days are getting shorter, the comforter has come out for the bed and the leaves are turning to red. So its time to prep the JustDrive garage for a busy winter. I spent a good 5 hours out there, but I still have more work to do. Pictures. And no I'm not sponsored by Molsen :).

Some Pictures.
[10/07/04] - I should have worked on the GT6 this evening. Nice weather, but was rather tired from work. Here are some picts. Will pull the GT6 out and work this weekend.

No Metal Skills.
[08/12/04] - You know I need help. Lots of it. I have no metal working skills. I wish I could hire someone to help me along.

Electronic Fuel Pumps & Metal Work.
[08/11/04] - I was trying to go the local cruise night with Mazda group, but the rains came, so I picked up some fuel pumps from a friend for the new motor. I will have to see if they work and order a new rubber backing. I also played with some metal. I could not bang all I wanted due to it being 9pm.

Mission July 2006.
[08/01/04] - Well what is so important about July 2006? It's the 40th anniversary of the GT6 MK1 model. It's my goal and desire to have a drivable GT6 by then. The wish list is rather costly. Full body work and paint. Leather and vinyl interior. Real carpets. Refinished chrome, polished wheels and nice tires. Not to mention all my other mechanical pieces. I already know some of these objective will have to delayed just for pure costs involved. Still if I can get my GT6 running I will on target. And a very happy man. Wish me luck. If my life goes as planned and all is stable for the next 2 years then I have a fighting chase.

A Better Grind.
[07/31/04] - Well aside from it raining and the humidity going through the roof I did manage to get some garage time. I tested out the new 7inch grind. Wow, having the right tool for the job rock.

New Tools.
[07/31/04] - Ok spent some cash today and picked up a few much needed items. After going to a OVTC auto body session I made a few notes on tools I need to do my job better. The most $$$ item on today's list was a 75lbs anvil.

When Thunder Crashes.
[07/20/04] - Leave it to me, go out and do a engine lift in a rain storm. We only got a little wet... Yeah right, I was so wet I lost all my business cards! Sorry no pictures during the lift, we were working fast to get it the job done.

A rumble from the Just Drive garage.

A New Set Of Wheels.
[06/06/04] - I traded in my 1997 Chevy Cavalier for a brand new 2003.5 MazdaSPEED Protegé. Wonderful car. I will get back to the GT6 in a few weeks. Working full time and teaching 2 nights a week has me over tasked. I honestly had thoughts of parting with the GT6, but will finish my project in time. At least I have a stupid fast car to enjoy :)

3 Year of Triumph Ownership.
[04/17/04] - Saturday morning marks the 3rd year of ownership. So I put together a picture to make the occasion. Progress maybe slow, but its coming. I remind myself this is a hobby and when things are tight or tough its alright to put the hobby on the back burner. I know in my heart this car will see the road in the next few years. It will be worth the wait and effort. Click to view picture.

Work & Progress.
[04/09/04] - Stef and I spent a few hours working on the GT6 this afternoon. We made decent progress, but I had to cut out after 4 hours. My broken toe was starting to cause me trouble. No Parking Sign.
[03/01/04] - I was inspired to make a sign after seeing one in a friends garage. I did the math and one from Ebay would have cost me $40 after shipping. So I made my own. The first one said No Parking. Triumph Parking Only, but the method I used to bond the paper to the metal ruined it. For this, the 2nd prototype I used a 8.5x11 piece of metal, spray painted white, both sides. Then I clear coated the piece of paper with enamel. Clamped the paper down at one corner on the metal and applied a spray glue. When dried I lifted the clamped end and glued it down. Few more coats of clear and presto. I want to mount the sign outside next and see how it handles the weather. Click to view all the photos.

Dreaming Of Summer.
[02/26/04] - I ran outside to snap some clean shots of from last night. Dust has settled and we can see the wok. One shot struck me as poetic. Doesn't the look like she is waiting for summer. Maybe next year. Click to view all the photos.

Work & Progress.
[02/25/04] - First order of business was to spin the GT6 around. Took a bit of effort due to the ice on the drive way, but the 180 is done. Then we removed the lower rear valance, started on the pass rear fender and Stef continued to polish off the bonnet. Click to view my photos. Click here to read the details.

[02/19/04] - Just a quick night, as the weather warms up I look forward to working outside again. More room. Added a 1/2 inch strip to the driver floor, to make up for the piece I zipped off before I learned how to remove the floor from the firewall. Also looked into the heel board. A little work with the air chisel this weekend and it should be off. I think I'm going to have to sand blast inside there. Click to view my photos. Click here to read the details.

Dreaming of Targa.
[02/01/04] - After reading and talking to a lot of people and my wife I have a mission in life. Aside from all that work crap which has been pulling me down I have decided this little GT6 of mine will run in the Targa Newfoundland in 2005 or 2006. I've opted to run in the Touring class. Its more cost effective then the full out Targa mode and according to a racer who ran in the Touring class in 2003 aside from the max speed on flats 130km/h vs 200 the touring class cars are working just as hard through the twisty sections. So next step will be to join the MCO and start my racers craft. Oh need to finish restoring my car. Look for a race prep page in the future on my site as I develop my action plan for this wonderful experience.

Work & Progress.
[01/22/04] - Struggled with the floor, I'm starting to win. Simple plan. CUT/DRILL IT OUT. Click to view my photos. Click here to read the details.

Work & Progress.
[01/10/04] - I've been slowed down by a flu bug and the extreme cold. The daily driver required a new battery. So I guess the GT6 will get the old one, which works fine except in this super cold weather.

Another New Year.
[01/01/04] - I hope everyone made it home safe and sound last night. I hope to start this year off on a good note and carry it onward. After the struggles I've faced in 2003 I can only hope lady luck will return to me. Project wise I have no time line, I have no due date, but maybe 2005 or 2006. If it takes me till 2008 I don't care. This GT6 will see the road again. Take Care.
